Donated vehicle to benefit animals
SARAC is one of many organisations who benefited from Ford which donated R12-million worth of vehicles to charities.
SOWETO Animal Rescue and Advisory Centre (SARAC) received a brand new Ford Ranger donated by Bidvest McCarthy Ford The Glen on December 10.
Jerry Selwane couldn’t believe it when a bakkie loaded with food and blankets collected by staff was presented to him by Clair van der Merwe (new-vehicle sales manager), who said they were happy to help Jerry and they will continue to collect goodies for the animals on a monthly basis.
“I’m really dumbfounded. I have no words to express my appreciation. I will be able to reach and rescue as many animals as possible. This is the best Christmas present. Halala Ford halala, thank you a million times,” said an excited Jerry.
SARAC is one of many organisations who benefited from Ford which donated R12-million worth of vehicles to charities. They donated 26 new vehicles handed over to 22 charity organisations in Gauteng, Eastern Cape, Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga. This donation represents the biggest vehicle donation by Ford in South Africa.
The fleet comprises of 15 Ford Transit vans, seven Tourneo custom minibuses, the all-new Fiesta and three locally-built Rangers.
“South Africa is a road-based economy, making vehicle ownership a key factor in order to deliver the services needed to advance the country’s economy and improve the quality of life of all our people. We are very proud that Ford is able to help the selected charity organisations go further in providing the selfless services that they do,” said Duduzile Nxele, corporate communications manager Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa.
SARAC’s mission is to improve the living conditions of animals in Soweto and surrounds by educating and changing people’s attitudes towards animals, holding education classes for children, making them aware of cruelty to those without a voice, enlist the help of children to be the eyes and ears and to report any cruelty, to provide community assistance with sterilisation, dipping, deworming and medical care, and to rescue animals in need, take care of them and find them good homes.
