Palmiet Station pumping water at full capacity again

Palmiet Booster Station has resumed pumping at full load following a failure of a switchgear on December 7.

RAND Water has announced on December 13 that their Palmiet Booster Station has resumed pumping at full load.

This follows the failure of a switchgear at the station on December 17 that led to a reduced supply to customers.

According to Justice Mohale, media relations manager at Rand Water, it is noteworthy that they continued to supply their customers despite lower than normal reservoir levels.

“Throughout this critical period, Rand Water had consistently maintained levels in its network,” said Mohale.

“But, due to the high water consumption as a result of the heat wave, we had restricted our customer’s meter in an effort to ensure an equitable supply of water to all customers.”

Rand Water urges consumers to continue to conserve and use water sparingly.
