Vehicle accident on N17 causes death of driver
The driver lost control and rolled on the Osborn Road on-ramp.
Emergency services responded to a serious collision on the N17 freeway eastbound Osborn Road on-ramp at about 6.20pm on January 12. Assessment of the scene indicated that the driver lost control of the vehicle resulting in a roll.
The male driver, who was trapped in the wreckage of the vehicle, had to be removed from the vehicle using specialised equipment. The driver was declared dead on the scene by paramedics. The passenger of the vehicle, an adult female was treated for her injuries by the paramedics. Once stabilised the patient was moved to Sunshine Hospital for treatment.
The exact reason for the driver losing control has not yet been established and is still under investigation.
