Registration for voting in 2019

Registration takes place on January 26 and 27 at your nearest voting station.

WITH the general elections due to take place in May, voting stations are set to open on January 26 and 27 for those that need to register to vote. The stations will be open on both days from 7am to 5pm.

Residents who need to register are those who have never voted before and are 16 years or older. Take note that those younger than 18 will only be able to vote once they are 18 years old. Residents who have moved since the previous election also need to register at their new voting stations.

Residents who are registered are encouraged to visit voting stations to ensure that they are registered.

Should you be unable to get to a voting station during the registration weekend you or a family member can collect a REC 2 form from the IEC office on the third floor of the Alberton Civic Centre. The person that has to register must complete the form and the form, as well as the applicant’s ID, need to be taken to the IEC office where they will be registered. Please note that this must be done before the registration weekend on January 26 and 27.
