Friends of the library

Brackenhurst library welcomes all its friends to read and learn to read.

BRACKEN Library held a Christmas children’s concert for friends of the library and the community on November 30.

Children who partook in the concert came from all areas, and played out Silent Night. One lady also reads to the children every Saturday at 10:00.

The concert was held in line with Christmas, but also to make the community aware of the Brackenhurst library. Librarians would also like to encourage and teach the children to read.

Anybody is welcome to go and listen on how to read, donate books or funds and anybody can exchange their books.

Employees of the library also buy and sell books to have the latest books available to its community. More than 2 000 books have been put into the library. The garden is done every week, giving the children a clean, fresh and bright environment to study and meet friends.

Fans and heaters were put inside and a security guard has been employed to keep watch over the cars while people visit the library.

Many friends of the library said that they would carry on looking after their library in memory of Maureen Ansett as her wish was to see the library in all its glory.

Further improvements will be made, although they do need the support of the community to keep it in the good condition it is.
