#IMadeMyMark: Mondeor Community School Grade 0s and Rs make their mark

The children had a wonderful time and left school with a clearer understanding of what an election is all about.

ON May 7, Mondeor Community School Grade 0s and Rs held their own elections to help the children understand the concept of what would be happening in the whole country on May 8.

The morning started with meeting the “candidates”, four sweet/chocolate bars, the children had a chance to taste each one in order for them to choose their favourite.

They then each had to make their own ID book and draw their own photo.

Then elections began and, of course, there had to be a long queue to wait in, each child had to show their ID book at the door and get their thumbs marked.

They then each received a ballot paper showing the four candidates and proceeded to the voting booth. In the voting booth they made a cross in the box next to their favourite candidate and then proceeded to the ballot box to pop their vote into the box. At the end of the whole process, the votes were counted and the winner declared.
