#MothersDay: The extraordinary abilities of our mothers

The many roles our mother plays in our lives are simply beyond incredible

What is a Mother?

This Mother’s Day let’s take some time to reflect on the roles our mother’s play in our lives. Mother’s Day is a celebration of all mothers around the world; our world is filled with super hero’s that come in the form of dedicated selfless women who put their children before anything else. A mother’s job is never done; at no point will she ever stop being your mom.

“Mothers never retire, no matter how old her children are she is always a mom, always willing to encourage and help her children in any way she can.”

– Catherine Pulsifer

Mothers love us more than they love themselves; they understand and support us, even when the whole world is against us. They believe in us, in times when it is most difficult to believe in ourselves.

“I am closest to my mother, as she is my rock, my pillar of strength, and my world. Not only has she stood by me through all times – happy, sad, and otherwise – but there have even been moments when I had completely lost hope, and her immense belief in me had lifted me up.”

We often grow up not knowing the hardships our mothers have to face. Some of our moms work full- time, run a household, and raise kids, along with all the other difficulties and hardships. Sometime our mothers have to miss a play or a sport event, and in our young minds it could be difficult to understand. As grown-ups we can take the time to reflect on all the things she did in order to afford us all those opportunities. Not to mention the heartbreak she must have felt as missing some of those milestones.

“My mother is a strong woman. Her strength comes from being tested by life’s unpredictability. It comes from soldiering on for her children, even when she might rather have given up. I know it hasn’t always come easily, but I also know it’s her greatest gift.”

Being a mother is incredibly challenging and greatly rewarding, and to us, their children, a mother is the ultimate gift.

Let’s look at a few quotes from some cheeky and observant children to their moms.

As we were walking through the store, my 4.5 year old daughter looked at me and asked, “Why do I always have to match my clothes and you don’t?”

– Rhonda

When asked if there is anything about her mother that is perfect, “Her casserole recipes, but we hate them.”

– Jenny

“If there is anything I could change about my mom it would be this weird thing about keeping my room clean. I’d get rid of that.”

– Suzy
