THE South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) wishes to advise the public with family members who are frail, to apply for a Grant in Aid.
The grant recipients who need full-time care can ask family members to apply on their behalf.
Qualifying requirements for Grant in Aid are as follows:
• The applicant must be in receipt of an Old Age Grant or Disability Grant and require full-time health care by another person owing to his\her physical or mental disabilities.
• The applicant must not be cared for in an institution that receives a subsidy from the State for the care/housing of such a beneficiary.
• Grant is R420.
• There is a medical assessment conducted to determine the severity of ill health by Sassa doctors.
Sassa emphasis to the public to take caution about their services as this is a tool issued by the government to decrease poverty.
Sassa exercises zero tolerance to fraudulent activities. The public is requested and encouraged to contact Sassa on 0800 60 10 11 to report fraudulent activities.
