Spreading love through random acts of kindness

Creative Academy paid their random acts of kindness forward.

EVERY year Creative Academy School of Excellence chooses a beneficiary to be the recipient of their Random Acts of Kindness.

This year they decided to involve the school, parents and children in a “Pay it Forward Campaign.”

To ensure that kindness is spread, a box containing random acts of kindness on cards was left in the reception of the school.

The random acts of kindness was done as a family.

A family would take one of these cards and follow out the instructions spreading kindness around.

These instructions ranged from things like “leave your change in a parking ticket machine” to “feed the birds” or “buy a security guard a coffee.”

The aim was for families to do this together so that everyone can understand the meaning behind the random act of kindness.

“Kindness promotes empathy and compassion, which in turn leads to a sense of interconnectedness with others,” said principal Lolita Visser.

“Compassion and kindness also reduce stress, boosts our immune systems and help reduce negative emotions such as anger and depression. In a nutshell, being kind promotes gratitude and makes you a happier person.”
