Residents fed up with parking arrangement
Residents of Marelca complex, have to face problems of their main gate being used as a public parking facility in front of their complex on a daily basis.
ALBERTON – The problem of parking is also caused by workers who stand outside the complex waiting for transportation once they have completed their work for the day.
Residents explains that, “The main concern is that we need to get rid of the people who just park here in front of our main gate and vehicles stopping to pick people up across the road on St. Austell Street in, Alberton.”
A petition with all 12 participants from the units in the complex had brought the issue to light since last year January and February- the complaint was addressed to the councillor, the metro police and the shopping centre management- but nothing had been done to solve the issue.
The residents said that the problem had been going on for longer than two years and hoped that a sign would be put up indicating to the public not to park near the complex.
On January 6, 7, 8 the RECORD waited for a response on what would happen if a sign were put up in front of the gate. When a phone call was made on January 9, the Department of roads/ roads department representative said that the people she had asked for a comment said they had nothing to say. Their response was: “No comment.”
