SAPS keeps weekend crimes in check

A lot of crime happened over the weekend in Alberton

DURING the weekend from January 3 to January 6, 18 suspects were arrested for committing various crimes in the Alberton area.

The members responsible for the arrests were Shift A, C and D. The crimes range from being drunk in public, shoplifting, malicious damage to property, theft, assault, theft from motor vehicle, rape, possession of stolen property, intimidation, pointing of firearm, child abuse and kidnapping.

The following items were recovered and/or confiscated: a knife, a R5 rifle with magazine and rounds, copper cables, two firearms with magazines and rounds.

“Our members managed to remove three firearms from the streets of Alberton, a real success. Well done and keep it up,” said Sergeant Nkuna.
