LAERSKOOL Randhart’s welfare committee handed over bottle caps to the Lighthouse Stimulation Centre for the Disabled on July 26.

The caps, which had been collected by the dedicated Grade Seven learners, were to be presented to Alberton Lions Club by Lighthouse Centre, to help afford them a wheelchair.

To secure a wheelchair which will be donated to the less fortunate, Alberton Lions will recycle the bottle caps through Interwaste.

The wheelchair will be supplied by Interwaste, a waste management company that keeps the environment eco-friendly.

Retha van As, a Grade Seven teacher at Laerskool Randhart, said this taught the learners how to recycle and giving back to the community.

“The bottle caps were collected by our passionate learners who were so keen on working towards the project as they knew it was for a good cause.

“As they occasionally have different projects for each term, this was their other community project which they were excited to take part in.

“Not only are they making a difference in the lives of others, but they are also keeping the streets clean,” she said.
