WATCH: Health enthusiasts in action to keep fit
A Brackenhurst-based gym took a day out to get the community to burn fat as both young and old partook in outdoor exercises on July 27.
THE Gym Company hosted a workout session that got those attending participating in numerous outdoor exercises at Bracken City on July 27.
To promote a healthy lifestyle, The Gym Company took a day out to get young and old involved in these outdoor exercises.
Sessions included spinning and aerobics, which were demonstrated by different health instructors.
The exercises primarily focused on cardio, building energy levels and strengthening leg muscles.
Outstanding participants were appreciated with whopping prizes and were given free giveaways.
Shane West, a sales and marketing representative at The Gym Company, said the event was hosted to promote healthy living and more outdoor events were to be hosted.
The day was made possible by generous sponsorships from McDonald’s, Pick n Pay, Super Zest and BSTC Nutrition.
“The community, as well as our gym members, exercised for four hours and all this was done to raise awareness on the importance of keeping fit. The event was a great success and we plan on hosting more events which will get the public involved,” he said.
Angelique Roerink, a participant who won the first price, said: “I came first in the spinning with the longest distance recorded to be 95km and that is an achievement since the exercise was intense. The workout session was effective because it encouraged every participant to stay fit,” she said.
