Dr Imogen Mashazi hosted the City’s women in uniform at a gala dinner and awards ceremony at Alberton Civic Centre.
TO honour and recognise women in uniform, Ekurhuleni city manager Dr Imogen Mashazi kick-started Women’s Month by awarding them for their amazing work.
On August 1, Mashazi hosted the City’s women in uniform at a gala dinner and awards ceremony at Alberton Civic Centre.
Mashazi holds a Doctoral Degree in Nursing Science from the University of South Africa and is the first female city manager for a metro municipality in Gauteng.
One of the women honoured at the event was Jemina Bopape from Brakpan.
Bopape has been working for the EMPD for 14 years.
At the gala, she received an accolade from the city manager for the best academic achiever for the MBA degree she acquired in 2015 at Regenesys Business School.
“I’m very humbled by this award. I have worked so long in this department, I never thought I would one day be recognised and honoured in such a befitting manner. I’m very happy and I will keep on performing my duties to the best of my abilities,” Bopape said.
Mashazi elaborated on her main vision for the City during her tenure as being able to see women in all departments rise to leadership positions.
She encouraged women to study further and take advantage of the City’s employee bursary fund to equip themselves academically.
