Aktief to host pebble run

Participants can write their words of hope on pebbles along the route and share it with those around them.

AKTIEF is an activity group formed by volunteers who raise awareness of the benefits of exercise and the myriad of exercising possibilities in and around Alberton.

As many as one in six South Africans suffer from anxiety, depression or substance-use problems, according to statistics released by the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG).

These statistics exclude more serious conditions, such as bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, as well as the general feeling-down-on-a-Sunday-afternoon phenomena.

The physical benefits of exercise, improving physical condition and fighting disease, have long been established, and physicians always encourage staying physically active.

Aktief will be hosting a Pebble of Hope Race on August 31 at the Pietersfield street entrance of NG Church Alberton South.

No pre-entries are required. Donations of R1 per pebble can be made from 7am.

The race starts at 8am and will end at 9am. The race takes the form of a 1km lap where participants can write their words of hope on pebbles along the route and share it with those around them.

Prize sponsors are welcome. Contact Christél Rosslee-Venter for more information on 082 883 7565, at email aktief@rosslee.biz or visit the Aktief Facebook page.
