Royal Street Society (RSS) gathered for a charity event which was held at Banzinga Mall in New Redruth on September 1.

WHILE doing what they love, Royal Street Society (RSS) came together for a charity event held at Banzinga Mall in New Redruth on September 1.

Local businesses were afforded an opportunity to have their company logos advertised on flashy cars that were on display on the day.

The charity event was aimed at promoting local businesses and gather teddy bears for children from Surgeons for Little Lives. An entry ‘fee’ of one teddy per car was charged.

Surgeons for Little Lives is run by a small group of paediatric surgeons and ordinary individuals who are passionate about uplifting the lives of less fortunate children needing life-changing surgery.

It was started with the objective of raising the level of care given to patients in the paediatric surgery wards in state hospitals in the greater Gauteng area.

Being the first of its kind, the event was believed to be a huge success by its organisers.

Those present were treated to good music and delicious meals sold by food vendors.

Cars in the car show were judged based from their overall appearance and engine size. However, all participants were rewarded with a trophy for their participation.

Organiser Dyllen Reichel said the charity event was aimed at bringing car lovers together while giving back for a good cause.

“We want to try and give back to the community where we can. We extend our gratitude to all the sponsors who helped make this event a success,” he said.

Calvin Muldery, a 13-year-old car racer who was present on the day, expressed his passion for racing and commended the event which brought them together.

“This was a fun event to be part of as I got to share the space with people who I look up to in terms of racing. I love the sport of racing and I decided to pursue it since my grandfather was also a racer. When I’m grown up, I want to be a full-time racer,” said Calvin.

The organisers would like to thank the following sponsors:

Beauty by C, The Tattooed Nail Tech, Cartoon Candy, Anisa’s Nail and Beauty, Calisto’s BYN Fabrication, Panarottis, Paul James, Miracle Jumping Castles, Nas Concepts, Future Audio, DNR Compressor Services, Turtle Wax, Dalrod Stationers, Outcry Motorsport, Nita Hair and Beauty, Johans Auto, Fritz Motors, Luxor Paints, Hi Tec Mag Repairs, Downshift ZM, Meat World New Redruth, Pick n Pay Newmarket at Lemon Tree.
