Swimming pools open on Spring Day
The pools will be open until the end of March 2020, which allows residents ample time to make use of the pool services on offer.

THE beginning of September marks the end of the chilly season, and the beginning of the swimming season in Johannesburg.
On September 1, 47 of the City of Johannesburg’s 55 pools opened and were ready to welcome patrons.
Ward 57 councillor Faeeza Chame said she was proud to announce that September 1 (Spring Day) went well when Moffat View and Pioneer Park swimming pools were both opened up for the summer season.
“The Moffat View swimming pool is a free-of-charge pool situated in Nephin Road, Moffat View. The pool in La Rochelle, Pioneer Park, has just been completely revamp, new pumps and painting were done.
“We encourage residents to enjoy the blue waters and the magnificent views inside the pools. We have qualified staff and lifesavers on duty during operating times,” she said.
Robertsham swimming pool will not open during the 2019/2020 swimming season. This is due to vandalism beyond repair, as well as major works necessary to ensure the safety and enjoyment of bathers.
Councillor Nonhlanhla Sifumba, member of the mayoral committee for community development, said: “We are pleading with parents and caregivers to ensure their little ones are safe at all times while enjoying the use of the pools.
“This can be achieved through swimming lessons, which are offered through different programmes such as Learn-To-Swim at some of the community pools.

“Information on where these programmes are run is readily available from the Department of Sport and Recreation.”
The pools will be open until the end of March 2020, which allows residents ample time to make use of the pool services on offer.
As part of ensuring that swimming facilities are well maintained, the City has made sure that all the pools have sufficient chemicals to guarantee they remain in pristine condition throughout the swimming season.
Remember, at the Pioneer Park swimming pool you pay R12 for adults, R7 for children and pensioners enter for free. No alcohol or braaing are allowed inside the pool area.
Operating times are from 10am to 6pm on weekdays and from 10am to 5pm on weekends.
