GALLERY: Cyclists ride to create awareness about organ and tissue donation

Brackenhurst cyclists were among others who partook in the Discovery 947 Ride Joburg in an aim to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation.

Two cyclists from Brackenhurst joined a team who took on the Discovery 947 Ride Joburg in an aim to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation.

Other cyclists in the team came from as far as Vrede and Volksrust.

They cycled for Transplant Education for Living Legacies (Tell) with some being first-timers and others having completed the race numerous times before.

Fourteen-year-old Marco de Jager finished the 40km while Marius de Jager finished a 94.7km. Rika Rossouw from Volksrust achieved a personal best time of three hours and the last member of the team completed the race in five and a half hours. Tell entered a team of 13 cyclists for the 94.7km race and two cyclists did the 40km vitality race.
