Free support service offered to emergency response personnel
Meetings are exclusive to first responders, police officers, firefighters, paramedics and security services personnel.
Emergency services personnel who are exposed to trauma in their line of duty are invited to join a newly formed support group.
This will be hosted at Akeso Alberton on the last Thursday of every month with the January meeting hosted on January 23.

Psychiatrist Dr Marshinee Naidoo and social worker Megan Hosking of Akeso Psychiatric Hospitals will lead the sessions.
Meetings will take place from 12.45am to 1.45pm in Group Room 5 at Akeso Alberton, 15 Clinton Road, New Redruth, Alberton.
The aim is to create a safe space where people who are first responders, or work in jobs where they are exposed to trauma on an ongoing basis, are able to share their experiences and learn from others.
Meetings will include an informative, educational presentation by a mental health expert, followed by a group discussion of the topic and an opportunity for participants to share their own experiences.
There will also be time for one-on-one interactions after the presentations.
Attendance is free. Light refreshments will be provided.
