In light of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement during his SONA on plans to build a University of Science and Innovation in Ekurhuleni, the RECORD asked readers to have their say on this.
Vuyo Nzima: “I think this will be a great thing for Ekurhuleni residents, but how long will building this institution take?”
David de Beer: “This will be good for the communities. Ekurhuleni is such a big region, there will be space to implement this plan.”
Jenny Swart: “I think building the university is a good idea, although I’m not sure about science and innovation though. It seems too specialised, how about considering more down-to-earth degrees, such as business and accounting.”
Bongani Mthembu: “It’s a good idea, but we lack more information on where this university will be built and they will get funds to build it. We don’t want this to end up as an empty promise.”
