Decopolo closes doors at the end of February

Landlord tells EMPD that there will be no lease renewal for Decopolo club and that they have to vacate the premises by the end of the month.

FLORENTIA – Decopolo Club in Kritzinger Road, Florentia which had been a thorn in many a residents side, also those living in the Retirement Village, will close its doors at the end of the month.

Since 2013 the RECORD has been inundated with complaints about the club and the club was last brought to public attention on December 4 2013, in a RECORD article explaining the complaints received from the community about noise levels.

A resident explains, “Everyone complained about the noise and when you put your head down to sleep, you just hear a thumping noise that starts from 19:00 and goes on until 02:00 the following morning.”

The Councillor of the Ekurhuleni department and EMPD has worked with the community on this matter.

The EMPD addressed the issue with the landlord of the premises about the complaints dating from 2013. The landlord had complied and said that she would not renew the lease at the end of January and extend it until the end of February, and therefore the tenant must vacate the premises by the end of February.

The officials involved were Supt Mthethwa and Chief Supt Johan Dorfling together with the Ward 36 Councillor Chris Swanepoel, who made the effort with the community to attend to the matter.

Councillor Swanepoel would like to thank the two EMPD Council who worked together and the customer care centre manager, Stephen Nowatha, who facilitated the process. He would also like to thank the complainants in the area as well as other officials who have been assisting him for the last two years. He would like to thank the landlord for not renewing the said lease and thus eradicating the problem and complaints.
