Street lights in Brackendowns an incomplete job by City
A Brackendowns resident has expressed his great concern after hopelessly waiting for council to completely restore wires connected to their street lights.
A Brackendowns resident, Peter Wiegand, has expressed his concern after hopelessly waiting for Council to completely restore wires connected to their street lights.
This comes after two street lights in Witteboom Street started to malfunction and the City responded to the problem.
To have them fixed, they then reportedly resorted to connecting electric wires from one street light to another.
Despite having working street lights, this has left the electric wires hanging about three metres from the ground, putting residents’ safety at risk.
Wiegand told the RECORD that if this problem was not attended to, it would compromise their safety and motorists might be electrocuted.

“They haven’t done anything and these illegal wires are dropping lower. I think the problem has occurred on the underground cable between the two street light poles.
“I think I can be of assistance as I reported damage to the electric cable and show them where the damage was,” he said.
The RECORD has contacted the City regarding this and to date no comment has been provided.
