Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency welcomes new regional managers

Mannetjie Johannes Riet cand Mamowelase Agnes Makwane have been promoted from Senior District Managers to regional positions.

Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency promoted two of its own to senior positions in line with the City of Ekurhuleni’s plan to promote and retain its staff.

Mannetjie Johannes Riet currently based in Leon Ferreira Fire station in Boksburg together with Mamowelase Agnes Makwane, based in Brakpan Fire Station respectively, have been promoted from senior district manager positions to regional positions respectively as of March 1. Each will be managing 10 fire stations from each region.

From being junior firefighters in the past 25 years of both their services and growing through the ranking structures to regional managers is a milestone achievement for both managers.

“Congratulations for being a part of our team,” said head of the department Sam Sibande to the two officers. “The Emergency Services division welcomes both of you alike as regional managers.

“We are looking forward for the division’s success from you. We believe that your abilities will help upgrade community service delivery to greater potentials and to grow more bigger than it is.”

Two more guests at the welcoming session were the divisional head of emergency services, affectionately known as the fire chief, Mhlengi Makhubalo, and the executive manager of operations, Koena Lifty Ngoepe.

“Having you in our division is really a great honour indeed. All of us are very excited to work with you in your new endeavour. Welcome aboard buddies,” said the divisional head.
