Alberton SPCA is in need of donations

Alberton SPCA is in need of donations as the national lockdown is affecting their income.

“As an essential service, the Alberton SPCA is open and still available 24 hours for emergencies because cruelty doesn’t stop because of lockdown, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Our fur babies need constant care, companionship and compassion and for the ones that are still finding their way to our door, apart from the above, a warm bed, meals, water and love,” said Jane Doo, secretary at Alberton SPCA

However, due to the lockdown, the flow of people through their SPCA has come to a stop.

“Our charity shop is closed, members of our community no longer pop in with a bag of dog food or with items to donate, our flea market on a Saturday stands empty and desolate and we have had to postpone fund-raising events indefinitely.

“The bottom line is, this has affected our means of creating an income; however, our overheads remain the same.”

Any donation, whether it is dog or cat food or a financial donation, will help the SPCA during this difficult time.

Anyone who wants to make a financial donation can make an EFT payment to Alberton SPCA’s Absa bank account with account number 1024471574 and branch code 632005.

“Every bit helps and should you require a Section A18A tax certificate, please send proof of payment to Lauren at fundraising@spcaalberton.org.za. We thank you in advance and remind one another that by standing together, we will overcome,” Jane concluded.
