FNB Stadium to be used for Covid-19 cases, it is factually incorrect – SMSA

SMSA responds to FNB Stadium to become a field hospital.

The CEO from Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA), Bertie Grobbelaar, responded to the Southern COURIER regarding reports doing the rounds that the stadium will be utilized as a field hospital during the pandemic.

“Regarding such a report that the Soccer City Stadium will become a field hospital for Covid-19 patients, it is factually incorrect.

“Although we offered the utilization of the FNB Stadium as a temporary hospital and /or quarantine facility to the Department of Public Works, as to date no such agreement is concluded with SMSA, neither were we formally approach by any authorized entity on the matter.

“SMSA stands ready to assist the government as responsible citizens in this national crisis once formally approached.”.
