GALLERY: Over R70 000 raised to help feed Alberton residents

The initiative has been supported by local ward councillors Bruna Haipel and Marina van Wyk.

The Alberton Community Responders raised over R70 000 towards food parcels in three days.

The parcels are to provide necessary relief to people in need in Alberton during the lockdown period.

The collection, which started on April 19, was launched by the Community Responders when they asked businesses to support the initiative.

Through the donations of both cash as well as goods the responders are able to package over 400 food parcels.

The initiative has been supported by local ward councillors Bruna Haipel and Marina van Wyk.

The parcels contain basic staple foods such as flour, samp, tinned vegetables and tinned fish. The parcels are aimed to feed two people.

The community responders have expressed their gratitude towards the people and businesses who have made this collection possible and have enabled them to help the people who are in need.

They thanked Reaper Tactical, Knight Protection Services, SOS Security and HMA Security (who assist with protection and deliveries).

Bruna and Marina thanked the team of the Alberton Community Responders.

“Alberton residents are absolutely wonderful,” said Bruna.
