Calling on all Ward 38 residents for help

This area has been historically neglected and to date has not received any form of food aid.

Members from Ward 38 are asking residents for financial support to help feed the residents in Thinasonke.

Thinasonke is a small informal area close to Eden Park and Phola Park and 80 per cent of this community are unemployed, and this was before Covid-19.

This area has been historically neglected and to date has not received any form of food aid. Because they fall under the jurisdiction of the Brackendowns Police Station, Brackendowns SAPS have appealed directly to the community to assist with a feeding scheme.

After the Animal Protection Network donated dog and cat food there, they saw that residents in the area are hungry and have no food. This area consists of mainly children and elderly people. If each household in Ward 38 could donate some small amount, whatever they can, they may be able to give each household a hamper once a week.

This is a pre-planned targeted feeding scheme and all food will be bought and distributed by the Bracken HELP forum set up for this task. Residents must take note that no other donations like food or clothes will be accepted due to the Covid-19 regulations.

Donations can be paid to (Care of) Brackenhurst Baptist Church’s FNB’s cheque account with account number 620 1247 4136 and use Thinasonke as your reference.
