Armed robbers ambush staff

Robbers strike as staff gets ready to go home after a fruitful day at work.

EDEN PARK – Everything seemed peaceful on the night when staff members of a petrol station ended their shift, locked everything and headed for Eden Park.

It is alleged by the female occupant who asked to remain anonymous, that when their vehicle turned into Eden Park at the traffic lights on the K146 Road to Palmridge, they noticed a vehicle parked in Petersen Street. On passing the car, it suddenly followed and overtook them.

“Driving behind the unknown vehicle, we reached the stop at the intersection of Petersen and Abraham streets near the mosque. Suddenly two armed men jumped out of the car and ordered us out of our vehicle. One robber had a gun and the other an AK 47 rifle. Everything happened so quickly.

“The robbery was very strange. They only took my handbag, shot one wheel of the car and drove off. My bag only contained my ID book, passport, jewellery and keys for my workplace and home. We called the police but they only arrived after three hours. It sure happened in a very mysterious way,” the victim said.

If any of the items are found, please contact Saul 079 064 6026. A case of armed robbery was opened at the Eden Park SAPS and it is considered sensitive and an ongoing investigation is taking place.
