THE Green Business Platform was held at Thaba Ya Batswana (Eco Hotel and Spa) on June 6 and guest speaker Justin Hawes from Scan Display spoke about greening.
Justin spoke on various green practices that one would need to keep in mind from eco-procurement (giving preference to products that are not harmful to the environment) down to waste minimisation (reduce consumption and recycle). Energy sufficiency was also part of his presentation in that water conservation is important with the tip: Do not to leave taps running.
Different marketing strategies that people can utilise are social media (marketing is an important aspect to events but should be done responsibly, as it contributes to the environmental impact).
He touched on other greening topics, where using eco-friendly products and methods can benefit the environment to prevent energy from getting wasted or to use them so that they can be recycled.
One of questions asked by a guest at the function was, “What type of alternatives/s can be used if you are doing a remote event?”
Justin explained that one could use bio diesel generators, because they save electricity/power or to use mobile panels.
“Eco-friendly materials or products are available as alternative solutions,” said Justin.
One would need to search the web for these alternative solutions.
