Joburg shaken up as tremor hits Gauteng

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a tremor in parts of South Africa, recording it at magnitude 4.6 with the epicentre being west of Orange Farm.

JOHANNESBURG – Approximately three weeks ago, South Africa was hit by a tremor recorded at 5.3 on the Richter scale.

While others did not feel the tremor, many say they were woken up in the early hours. See Facebook comments below:

According to Bedfordview and Edenvale NEWS, “The quake, hit at approximately 1am and is the second in South Africa in less than three weeks.”

The earthquake occurred 12km west of Orange Farm, south of Johannesburg at an approximate depth of 10km.
