Drain from hell

Ekurhuleni Metro Council seem to be losing the battle against the drain.

EDEN PARK – Brown Street has been a river of human waste for years now. The smell is unbearable and the residents can no longer endure the bad smell from the forever blocked drains.

Ekurhuleni Metro Council seem to be losing the battle against the drains in this street. Sarah said the unblocking of the drain from hell, which is right in front of her gate, is always just a temporary job. The drain is always open for a week or two and then blocks up again.

“This has been going on for years. On August 14 they came to unblock the drain after weeks of phoning to report the problem, but now it’s been blocked again and we are phoning daily with new reference numbers, hoping they will come. The waste bubbles out in my house now. I can not stand the smell, which can be a health risk for my baby,’ said Sarah.

While walking away from the drain, Sarah slipped on the muddy surface and fell with her baby in the filthy human waste. Fortunately not one of them sustained injuries.
