Community watch officially launched

Eden Park residets took it upon themselves to launch a comunity watch to fight hijacking, armed robbery, car theft, housebreaking and the forever mushrooming drug lords

EDEN PARK – On Saturday October 18, residents of Edenpark officially launched the Community Watch Forum. The launch started with a march from the mosque in Abraham Street and ended at Opelweg Primary.

Among the many speakers at the launch were Mr Siboza, MMC Safety and Security, AJ Mashaile, CPCPB deputy chairperson, Captain Mhlophe, local SAPS, and Chaplin D Nel, SAPS Chaplain.

Due to the rapid increase of crime in the area, residents of Edenpark took it upon themselves to launch a comunity watch to fight hijacking, armed robbery, car theft, housebreaking and the forever mushrooming drug lords.

In his speech, Mashaile said: “Please report every crime and stop withdrawing cases. If the police refuses to open a case or if any resident has a problem with the police station or any officer at the desk, they should please phone me personally on 082 346 0520 or General Gela at 082 316 2572.”

The organisation structure is: Dino Peterson – chairperson, I Carelse and Mina Booysen – deputies, Peter Thomas – treasurer, Duncan Ross – vice-treasurer, Shawnette Said – secretary, Ralph Goliath – deputy secretary, Ronnie and Natalie Abrahams – PRO and media.

They expressed their thanks to all the sponsors and pleaded for support from the community.
