Sleeping toddler safe and sound
Sunday November 2 started out as a pleasurable and jolly day for the Plaatjies family in Riemvasmaak extention 5, but almost ended in sadness.
ALBERTON – After sunset on that peaceful day, the parent, Rosie discovered that her five-year-old son was not at home. They searched around, asking the neighbours and driving up and down every street in search of their little boy, Kiano. The toddler was nowhere to be found and nobody has seen him that afternoon or evening.
“At 20:00 the summoning whistle was blown, and all the residents came together and started searching through the vacant veld outside extention 5, while others went through the bushes around Stoneridge Primary where bodies had been discovered in the past,” said Rosie.
Rosie further stated: “While reporting my son missing at the police station, I received a call at 23:00 informing us that Kiano was safe at home. His granny, who was with him the whole day, saw the family dog Fluffy nudging at something behind the sofa. There, behind the sofa, Kiano was found, fast asleep.
“I want to thank my neighbourhood and the whole community of extention 5 who helped in the search for Kiano. We are grateful for the people who gave up their time to help us. I thank God for the safety of my son, and I praise Fluffy for being so alert,” Rosie said.
