Sponsor a chorister

For many years now the Dutch Reformed Church Alberton West has been involved with the Mzanzi Youth Choir. During this period a few people of the congregation started making meals for the choir members to enjoy during their weekly practice sessions.

ALBERTON – It has come to their attention that many of the choir members are so impoverished that they do not even enjoy one meal a day. There are days that some of them does not eat in order to allow for another family member to have a meal. Alberton West’s Dutch Reformed church also assisted these individual choir members with monthly food parcels over the years.

The infrastructure of Ligstad makes it easier to co-ordinate the project as part of Ligstad’s services to the community. The project was hence transferred to Ligstad who managed to provide meals for the 65 choristers during their practice sessions since October this year. It was communicated to Ligstad that there are currently 13 choristers who does not have the privilege of a daily meal.

It is Ligstad’s dream to be able to continue to provide the choir with the weekly meals for the 65 choristers to enjoy when they practice, but also to provide monthly food parcels to these 13 choristers to make their lives easier.

In order for Ligstad to reach this dream, they need the support of the community to get involved by sponsoring a chorister. This will enable them to continue with this valuable and crucial support of the choir.

Any person or company willing to get involved in sponsoring choristers in this project of Ligstad is welcome to contact Alida Jooste at 079 693 3666.
