New website launched to report potholes
A private initiative that promises to report a road or storm water problem or pothole in half a minute, has been launched to quickly and anonymously report problems to the municipality.
The site called Ogaats.co.za claims to route reports directly to the responsible department in a process that is simple and transparent. Users only need a camera phone or computer with access to the internet to log a fault.
To report a problem, users visit the site, select what type of fault they have seen; select the location of the fault and add a photo or description of the problem. Ogaats then uses location-based data and the fault report to notify the correct department of the problem.
Ogaats.co.za is currently available in all 226 municipalities in South Africa. Two faults have been logged in the Alberton area so far.
