Bike hijackers still at large

On the morning of Friday April 10, Stephen Evans was riding his bicycle on Old Vereeniging Road when he was forced from the road by eight unknown African men.

Stephen stated that the group of young men were walking next to the road, and once he was closer to them, they stood across the carriageway. Stephen was forced to turn to avoid colliding with them, and crashed beside the carriageway. The men threatened him at knife point so he unclipped his feet from the pedals of his bicycle. The suspects then went through his pockets; stole his cellphone and took his bicycle.

The suspects remain at large; according to Brackendowns SAPS spokesperson Sgt Lindi Moloi, Brackendowns police are still investigating the matter.
