Dalmondeor gets visit from Miss Earth

Young minds at Dalmondeor Primary taught about importance of caring for the environment by Miss Earth 2016 applicants

ALBERTON -A great day of sharing knowledge was had by Miss Earth and the young Earth Warriors at Dalmondeor Primary School on Earth Day, April 22.

The Miss Earth South Africa team and the 2015 applicants celebrated Earth Day planting trees with the grade R classes. The team also hosted an assembly at the school, where young impressionable minds were able to hear the green message and take it back to their classrooms and homes.

Earth Day calls for the attention of ordinary citizens to stop and think. We take from the earth, but we do not give back. The question then is what happens after Earth Day? How do we follow through and continue the ethos of reducing and being aware of our actions every day of the year? Miss Earth South Africa has developed a programme that empowers young women through environmental education.

They are supported by corporates such as Imperial Toyota, Tsogo Sun, Cathay Pacific, Newsclip Media Monitoring, Nedbank and Valprè, which assist in creating a greater awareness for the call-to-action. Miss Earth encourages everyone to make every day an Earth Day!
