Woman killed on R59

A woman in her 40s was killed this afternoon after her vehicle rolled down an embankment on the R59 near the Verwoerd offramp in Meyerton.

MEYERTON – According to ER24 Spokesperson, Russel Meiring, “Paramedics were alerted to the incident, and on arrival, they found a wrecked light motor vehicle lying on its roof.”

On assessment, paramedics found the critically injured patient lying motionless next to her overturned vehicle. The patient had sustained severe injuries to her head, chest and abdomen.

Paramedics began their treatment of the patient to stabilise her vital signs. After 30 minutes of advanced life support treatment, the patient unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.

It is understood that the patient lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll multiple times down the embankment, coming to rest on its roof.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
