Charity day for the elderly

All proceeds raised will go towards the Roslin Park old age home.

THE elderly at Roslin Park Old Age Home had a wonderful day hosted by the Scottish Freemasonry in Central South Africa to raise funds on Sunday, August 16.

The park was jam-packed as guests from many different lodges and motorcycles clubs attended the event to show their continued support for the elderly and all the matrons from the home.

A friendly cooking competition helped visitors coming from the East and West Rand to navigate with their noses as the chefs cooked delicious meals to serve to the everyone.

This was the 14th annual fund-raising initiative of this kind, supported by many lodges which set up stands and sold items. Lodges Turffontein, Gordeon, Towerbay and Braemar, were some of the lodges present on the day, alongside the Widower Sons from the East and West Rand.

The Widower Sons donated R5 300 to help with the upgrade of the security fence at the home. Some of the funds were raised from the sale of many items and refreshments on the day.

Sue Green from Joy Dogs charmed everyone with a breathtaking dog show. This was followed by food tasting and judging, which was done by Cecil and Sheelagh Bates who have been judging for the past five years.

They picked the winners out of 18 entrants.

“The food was excellent, the the energy is just so inspiring from all these people who are doing this for a good cause,” said Sheelagh.
