Resident makes her wish a reality

Glenvista resident Patricia Partridge recently attended an event, Suit and Sneakers, and, after hearing inspirational talks from guest speakers, came away wishing she could do something to make a difference and fulfill a dream for someone else.

GLENVISTA – “I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do but decided I could make a dress which could be donated and worn by a matric learner who maybe wouldn’t have otherwise been able to afford one. I made a beautiful dress and put it on Facebook and was amazed at the response I received from the community.

The dress is going to a local learner and I’m thrilled I was able to make her dream come true,” said Patricia.

She said Paul James Hairdressing Salon will sponsor a hair makeover and the learner’s make-up will be done by Les Amis Salon in Brackenhurst.

According to Patricia, she has received lots of dresses and has spoken to Alta McMaster from Epic Foundation, who said she will be thrilled to collect however many dresses Patricia has and more if she receives them.

“I’ve arranged drop-off points locally where the community can drop off evening gowns, bridesmaid dresses and matric dresses, as well as suits for guys.

As well as donating to Epic Foundation I’ll be giving to the Cinderella Foundation and Princess Foundation. Signage for the drop-off points is being sponsored by Nelco Inter (www.nelcointernational.co.za),” she said.

Dresses/suits can be dropped of at Harbour Fish and Grill (Meyersdal Mall), Les Amis Salon (32 Rae Frankel Street, Brackenhurst) or Kids Emporium (45 Sneeuberg Street, Glenvista).
