Alberton Rugby Club not using dog meat

A rugby club has become the victim of a prank which went viral over the weekend.

A POST on the popular social media site, Facebook, claiming that the Alberton Rugby Club was using dog meat for their hamburgers, went viral over the weekend.

Mark Assante from the Alberton Rugby Club said he was quite upset when he learned that ‘Alberto Rugby Club in trouble after dog meat was found’ (direct quote from www.feednewz.com), was doing the rounds on social media.

The teaser for the post reads: “Police invaded the rugby club and found that they slaughter dogs before hand, then bring them to the club to make their delicious burger” (direct quote from www.feednewz.com).

Assante said they have already informed their restaurant clients that the post created on www.feednewz.com, is from a website known for its pranks.

By the time of publishing this article on the RECORD‘s website, 7 468 people had already been fooled by the article published on www.feednewz.com.

“If people click on the link, they will see that it is just a prank that someone pulled off – it is not real. Even the main picture used of our sports building is a very old one,” said an unhappy Assante.

“I don’t know why anyone would create something like this. Health inspectors come to our premises regularly and would have picked up if something was not right.”
