Police focus on school transport safety

Sgt Mgedezi and Const Maseko visited local schools to discuss with school principals and other stakeholders the best ways to make school transport safer.

ALBERTON SAPS and the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) are working together to ensure that schools and school transport are safe for everyone.

Sergeant Phumza Mgedezi and Constable Miranda Maseko recently visited local school principals and stakeholders to discuss the best way to make, and keep school transport safer.

In future, school searches and school transport inspections will be on top of their list. The focus will be on drugs and the roadworthiness of the transport vehicles.

Parents are also requested to assist in this safety project by knowing what is in their children’s school bags and checking if the transport that takes them to school is roadworthy.
