One killed, three injured in two collisions

Local authorities attended the scene.

SHORTLY before 05:00 on March 14, ER 24 paramedics arrived at an accident scene on the R59, near the Meyer Street off-ramp, where they found a car and a trailer that had overturned.

The vehicle was found on the side of the road with the trailer wedged against a tree. Upon assessment paramedics found three men, believed to be between 25 and 35 years old, who sustained various injuries. One of them was in a serious condition. Once stabilised, they were transported to Mediclinic Vereeniging for further care.

At approximately the same time, another crew from ER24 attended to a fatal collision on the R59, near the Pierneef off-ramp. One person was found with fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene.

The exact cause of the collisions is not yet known. Local authorities were on scene to investiage.
