EMM responds to Alberton cemetery complaint

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality responds to councillor Izak Berg's complaint regarding Alberton cemetery.

EKURHULENI Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) has responded to councillor Izak Berg’s complaints regarding Alberton Cemetery.

The councillor brought the poor maintenance of the cemetery to the attention of the municipality in early March. The EMM responded with the following statement: “Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) has had challenges with maintenance within the cemetery. Grass cutting was ongoing but not to the needed speed, therefore help was received from other cemeteries within Area 2 and Area 1, thus to date the cemetery is completely cut. This was completed on Monday, March 14. Raking, grass cutting (re-cutting) and other work is currently being done.”

The municipality has committed to a maintenance schedule for the cemetery.
