Spur murder case update

On May 3, the final testimony of witness three, Stuart Geddie, in the Spur murder trial, was heard.

The trial pertains to the alleged assault on Bradley du Preez which took place on June 22, 2014, at the Lemon Tree Spur, which led to his death.

Court proceedings were delayed as one of the interpreters was late again.

The state prosecutor said that the video footage, which was the main evidence in the case, would no longer be used, supposedly because they failed to acquire the services of a video expert.

The entire cross examination of Geddie was just rehashing the testimony he had given months ago.

Many hours were spent asking Geddie about the first part of the incident that led to the later demise of the deceased, and at one stage frustration got the better of the young man, who had to constantly say that he was not there for that part of the incident. “I was not there, I don’t know why you’re asking me the same things all the time, I’ve answered many times, this is a waste of time,” said Geddie.

Judge Singh warned the upset Geddie not to get frustrated and simply answer the questions.

One court date was changed for the following proceedings of the trial in July and August, which will take place on July 25, 26 and 27, and August 1, 2 and 3.
