Hennie Alberts Street, Meyersdal, gets a facelift
Alberton residents along Hennie Alberts Street woke up to find a hive of activity on Mandela Day.
RESIDENTS along Hennie Alberts Street woke up to find a hive of activity on Mandela Day.
Initiated by Ward 106’s Bruna Haipel and Marina van Wyk, together with the Metro Parks Department’s team of skilled workers, the community was pleasantly surprised during the course of the day.
The traffic circle was transformed into a cheerful garden and, after the garden was completed, more work awaited the team.
An illegal squatter had been causing a problems in the community and burnt articles, a pile of trash and non-biodegradable items were found around and amongst the bushes. As a result, an infestation of rats has affected residents in the area.
The EMM grab-truck assisted with the removal of the garbage in and around the bushes. Meals and beverages were provided by Haipel and van Wyk, who assisted the workers throughout the day. They would like to express their gratitude to the community and department for their support .
