THE Alberton Remedial School recently held its first career day.
On Friday, July 22, the school held this day for their students to give them some guidance and clarity on some possible career paths for them in the future.
“We would like to thank the guest speakers for coming through and sharing their knowledge and experiences with our learners as part of their preparation for subject choice,” said Lee-Anne Nanakis, from the school.
Speakers included Sergeant Lindi Moloi from Brackendowns Police Station, Cheslyn Kayser (chef and business owner), Marco Pereira (owner of Custom Couches), Melanie Kromer (SA College of Health, Beauty and Hair), Jay Bell (nature guide), Spencer Martin, (vocalist for local band Newtown Knifegang and business owner) and Devan Govender (sales associate at RE/MAX All Stars).
The event gave learners the opportunity to meet and speak to people from various fields about all aspects of their careers. “We are hugely appreciative of the local businesspeople and professionals who took time out to make the event a success,” said Lee-Anne.
