Sassa comments on pensioner’s mysterious withdrawals
Sassa has commented on an incident involving a local pensioner.

IN a recent article printed in the Alberton RECORD, pensioner Isaak Ruiters alleged that he didn’t receive his grant for two months. He also said that withdrawals were made by an unknown person in May and June.
Sassa was contacted to investigate the matter and to comment on the incident.
In response to a media enquiry, Sassa and Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) said that after thorough investigation, it has been revealed that withdrawals from Ruiters’ account were made from Honda Street and Laverda Street.
“The claimant confirmed these were not done by him and that his card was protected at all times as he never sent anyone to withdraw for him. However, he is always accompanied by a family member when going to do his withdrawals and given the fact that he is in a wheelchair it could have been easy for any person near him to see his pin number.
“The claimant has been advised to appoint a procurator who can collect the grant money on his behalf on a monthly basis as well as a change of the previous pin to that which will be known by the procurator. Further advise was given to him to open a police case on the theft of his money to the South African Police Service.”
Sassa urges all their beneficiaries to protect their pin and Sassa cards at all times. For further enquiries contact their call centre on 0800 60 10 11.
