HI ZONE Security recovered two hijacked vehicles in the south of Johannesburg, recently.
On Monday, August 1, at 19:45, the Hi Zone control room received a call from a Hi Zone client on a residential estate in the south, regarding a suspicious-looking vehicle.
After arriving at the scene, the Hi Zone reaction officers discovered that the licence disc’s registration number did not correspond with the registration plates that were on the vehicle. The SAPS was contacted and dispatched. The vehicle’s wheels were clamped, but the team received further information that there was another suspicious vehicle on site.
At approximately 20:45, Mondeor police arrived on site and the SAPS confirmed that the white BMW was a positively identified, hijacked vehicle.
More false number plates were then discovered on the back seat of a Blue Tazz.
At approximately 22:00, while the SAPS and reaction officers were busy at the Tazz, the hijackers returned to the site.
One got into the BMW and sped off, breaking the clamp.
The security officer called the main gate to ask the guards to close it, as the hijacker was approaching.
The hijacker failed to get through the gate, so he jumped out of the car and exited the property.
At this time the two police officers opened fire at the suspects in the getaway vehicle, but they managed to escape.
The two vehicles were impounded and were taken to the City Deep impound yard for further investigation.
