Drivers bust for ludicrous speeding

THREE drivers were arrested recently for substantially exceeding the speed limit.
At 07:50 on Sunday, August 7, a 21-year-old driver was caught driving at a breakneck speed of 193km/h along the N12 eastbound by the R59 bridge, which is a 120km/h zone. When stopped the driver said he was late for a church service and in a hurry. He was immediately locked up at Alberton police station where a docket of reckless and negligent driving was registered against him.
Two more drivers were arrested on the same stretch of freeway for excessive speeding.
At 06:30, a 42-year-old male driver in a green BMW sedan, who also claimed he was on his way to church, was clocked at 176km/h, ended up behind bars.
The third arrestee was nabbed at 07:45, driving a white VW Polo when he registered 164km/h, stating that he was rushing to a hospital to visit a family member.
All three arrested drivers were charged with reckless and negligent driving at Alberton police station. They were later released after posting bail of R1 000 each. They appeared in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
